María Isabel Aillón

María Isabel Aillón´s international background and broad experience as an attorney and advisor for investors in the areas of Dispute Resolution, Mining, Oil & Gas, and ESG qualify her to bring a unique and strategic approach to serve on a public or private board, including risk management and governance committees.


María Isabel Aillón was the first female attorney ranked in Ecuador as one of the top young lawyers in Energy and Natural Resources by the Legal Guide Chambers Latin America. She focuses her legal practice in Mining and Dispute Resolution.

With thirteen years of experience, she has represented foreign investors on the process of structuring investments and operations for extractive and energy projects. Her expertise includes risk management, environmental, social, governance and strategic advice for country entrance.

As an attorney she has participated in several complex litigation and international arbitration cases including an environmental responsibility billionaire claim involving a multinational oil company in a treaty arbitration against the Republic of Ecuador.

María Isabel Aillón is the Founder and the first President of the non-profit organization Women in Mining Ecuador. She has led significant initiatives that promote and make visible the role of women in mining in her country.
