Vancouver, BC: GEMS Unearthed is a guided reflective storytelling experience that invites women to explore their professional lives from new angles, often revealing previously unknown or unrecognized details, connections and brilliance along the way.
The GEMS Narrative Story Building Experience also encompasses the wider spectrum of contributions women make across their careers, families and communities. Each first person narrative becomes part of the GEMS Unearthed Global Digital Archive, a permanent and growing collection created to capture and amplify women’s voice while preserving human legacy.
With its roots in mining, GEMS is already expanding, with contributing authors now representing construction, finance, accounting and other traditionally male-dominated industries.

About Michelle:
For over three decades, Michelle has worked at the intersection of governance, sustainability, human rights, and stakeholder engagement within the global mining industry.
Her work has always centered on helping organizations navigate complexity—whether supporting Boards and executive teams with to improve governance and enhance enterprise-wide risk management, embedding responsible business practices across operations, conducting human rights due diligence, or strengthening the integration of sustainability frameworks and metrics into larger business strategies. Michelle's greatest value is realized situations where subject matter expertise alone is not enough, and where thoughtful judgment, discernment, trusted relationships, and clear communication are essential to building alignment and moving organizational objectives and shared outcomes forward.
Throughout her career, she has advised mining companies across the full project life cycle, from exploration and pre-development to multi-asset operations, working with groups ranging from junior explorers to global producers in diverse jurisdictions. Her experience spans sustainability strategy, social performance, stakeholder engagement, governance/policy development, enterprise risk, and international human rights assessments across diverse jurisdictions.
Alongside her advisory practice, Michelle is also the creator and producer of GEMS Unearthed—a Global Digital Archive preserving the experiences, perspectives, voice and wisdom of women working across mining and other traditionally male-dominated industries. Through long-form storytelling and facilitated narrative development with its contributing authors, GEMS seeks to capture and preserve an important part of our collective human legacy while ensuring these voices remain accessible to future generations.
As a Certified Director (CDI.D), she also serves as a Board Director and member of the Audit & Corporate Governance Committee of the Canadian Polish Business Association.
